Product information "Radical Wireless LUMEN CONTROL TimoTwo CRMX Module"
The Radical Wireless LUMEN CONTROL TimoTwo module with best-in-class Lumenradio CRMX and WDMX technology enables simple wireless control of DMX fixtures and LED dimmers.
Despite its powerful functionality, the module is extremely compact and can easily be integrated into custom luminaires or DMX end devices.
With its straightforward SPI programming and control interface, the module is also ideally suited for use in more complex control systems.
This module can only be addressed via SPI. An external microcontroller or developer board such as Arduino-based, ESP32 or STM32F103C8T6 Blue Pill is required to program this module.
To make it easier for you to connect the LUMEN CONTROL module and program the Lumenradio TimoTwo chip via SPI, the manufacturer has provided an Arduino sketch for an ESP32 module on their GitHub page.

Frequently Asked Questions
What distinguishes the LUMEN CONTROL from the LUMEN CARD?
The LUMEN CONTROL is reduced to the radio module with SPI interface – without headers, without LED UI
and without a LINK button on the top side. This gives you full control, but you must supply your own
microcontroller to handle communication. The LUMEN CARD is by comparison the plug-and-play variant with header and LEDs.
Do I need programming skills to use the module?
Yes. Unlike the LUMEN CARD, the LUMEN CONTROL operates exclusively via SPI and requires a host controller that provides the DMX data and drives the module. To make things easier for you, the manufacturer has already provided an Arduino sketch for an ESP32 host. https://github.com/graflichttechnik/timotwo-example-for-arduino
If you do not wish to develop SPI firmware, the LUMEN CARD is the better choice.
Which microcontrollers are suitable?
Practically any MCU with an SPI interface and sufficient flash for the DMX buffer. Well-proven options include
Arduino boards (Uno, Mega, Due), STM32 Blue Pill (STM32F103C8T6), ESP32 and similar. On the manufacturer's GitHub page you will find thoroughly documented example code.
Can I use the module as both transmitter and receiver?
Yes. The SPI command set allows switching between TX and RX mode. The module supports
CRMX Classic, W-DMX (G3, G4, G4S), DMX512-A including RDM, and Bluetooth Low Energy.
How do I connect an antenna?
The module has an IPEX/u.fl antenna connector. For external mounting, an adapter to RP-SMA is typically used so that a larger antenna can be attached on the outside of the enclosure. Suitable adapters and antennas can be found under Radio & Antennas.
Is there documentation for the protocol?
Yes. On the product page under the "Documents" tab you will find the datasheet. On the manufacturer's GitHub page, as well as at Lumenradio, you will find comprehensive documentation on the SPI command set and timing diagrams.
Is a 5V power supply sufficient?
Yes, the input voltage range covers 3.3V DC to 10V DC, allowing the module to be connected directly to USB ports or suitable power sources. The module itself also integrates a step-down DC/DC converter that provides the 3.3V required by the Lumenradio TimoTwo chip.
