The Blackbird FX BLE is the successor to the proven Blackbird FX. With TimoTwo and Bluetooth, it offers a powerful, versatile wireless DMX system with integrated battery supply – ideal for flexible indoor and outdoor use. The robust IP65 housing made of high-quality aluminium reliably protects against dust, rain and harsh operating conditions.
Inside, the latest TimoTwo module from Lumenradio works, which supports not only BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) but also modern CRMX² technology. The Blackbird FX BLE thus transmits a complete DMX universe with up to 512 channels at maximum data rate. Thanks to a simple mode switch, the device can be operated either as a transmitter or as an RDM-capable receiver.

CRMX is the de-facto standard for wireless DMX from Lumenradio; CRMX² is the current evolution with higher data rate and improved coexistence with other radio systems. W-DMX is the competing protocol from Wireless Solution – the Blackbird FX BLE is backwards-compatible with W-DMX G3, G4, G4S and G5, so you can integrate older systems seamlessly.
Yes, a simple mode switch is all that is needed. In TX mode the device transmits DMX; in RX mode it receives DMX including the RDM return channel. You therefore need at least two Blackbirds (or a compatible counterpart) for a complete radio link.
With the integrated 2,600 mAh Li-Ion battery, several hours of self-contained operation are achievable depending on use. Charging is via USB micro (5 V DC) – so it can also be topped up with a standard power bank if operation runs longer than planned.
The 2.4 GHz band is crowded with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other radio systems. CRMX devices continuously scan the spectrum and dynamically switch to free frequencies instead of staying rigidly on one channel. This provides a significantly more stable connection, even in heavily congested radio environments such as trade fairs or stadiums.
On the device itself via status LEDs and the link button – or conveniently via Bluetooth using the free Lumenradio Toolbox App (iOS/Android). With it you can see RDM devices on the network, check DMX values, update firmware and change settings without opening the device.
The antenna connector is RP-TNC and is therefore compatible with a wide range of 2.4 GHz antennas. For better range or directivity, omnidirectional or directional antennas can be connected. Suitable options can be found under Radio and Antennas.
For integrations into spotlight housings or development projects, the OEM modules LUMEN CARD TimoTwo (with header) and LUMEN CONTROL TimoTwo are the right choice – they use the same TimoTwo chipset as the Blackbird FX BLE, but as a bare board for custom integration.
